Electrical Safety Rules

There are three security measures;
  • Security of work areas
  • Security during the electrical installation
  • Safety of the installation or wiring
SECURITY OF WORK AREAS
  • Determine the work is always neat and clean from oil, water, grease and so on. The aim is that we do not slip or it can be part of the electrical circuit and cause electric shock.
  • Equipment and utensils must be placed at a place without an obstruction while at work.
  • All tools and electrical appliances must be in good condition and able to avoid electric shock accidents.
SAFETY FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS

Personal safety

  • Clothing should be suitable to the work to be done.
  • Shoes used to be made of good insulating material(Rubber - electric resistance) and a low heel.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry
  • When removing insulation from cables, use the knife with care. Direction and movement of the knife should not face the body or other trainees.
  • If using a ladder, a ladder set policy on the wall at a safe angle. Usually at an angle of 30 °.

Open circuit
All installation work must be done as far as possible in an open circuit condition. How to break the circuit is to turn off the main switch or by removing the fuse (in the main switches and fuse distribution box).

Closed Circuit
Making the installation or maintenance work of closed circuit is not recommended except in emergencies or in situations requiring immediate supply of electricity.

The steps to be taken during the closed-circuit condition are;
  • Insulate themselves, by using insulated gloves and standing only on insulated items.
  • Avoid working on a circuit at a time.(Regular break/rest/work shift)
  • Equipment and appliances must be dry and not wet.
  • Make a mark on the cable circuit being repaired.

SAFETY FOR THE INSTALLATION OR WIRING.

  • Each installation must have circuit protection devices such as fuses and circuit breakers for the purpose to avoid overload, excessive current and short circuit.
  • Make rewiring if the resistance assembly has been completed or depleted.
  • Making mechanical protection.
