EFFECTS OF DEPRESSION AND STRESS TO EMPLOYEES

Every individual must have had depression and stress. But as far as these things can affect individual health and productivity at work, depending on the individual how to overcome them. Depression and normal pressure occurs only temporarily, usually these things happen when an individual has experienced a situation such as personal problems, death of close family members, employers scolded or ignored by colleagues.

For depression or critical stress, the patient will experience the situation in a long time. Until now the real cause of depression and stress are yet to be identified accurately by the doctor, but the descendants of factors and personal characteristics of individuals influence the disease. These individuals need counseling or therapy to reduce and ensure mental illness is not harmful to health.

Normally these individuals are emotionally unstable conditions and when the individuals with the disease do the job, the probability of an accident occurring in the workplace is high. These individuals cannot use sharp tools, operating machines or equipment to reduce the risk of accidents.

Between depression and stress symptoms experienced by patients :-

·         Insomnia

·         Feel angry easily.

·         Quickly give up.

·         Sadness or feeling lonely.

·         Feeling guilty or worthless.

·         Loss of interest or enjoyment of hobbies and activities

·         Loss of appetite and weight loss.

·         Lack of concentration, difficulty making decisions.

·         Tendency to commit suicide.

Each individual has its own way to solve it as worship, exercise, healthy diet and getting enough rest. The following are treatments that can be made by the patient. Treatment that is made is based on the direction and monitoring of health professionals.

                    i.            Pharmacotherapy:

There are many anti-depression medications at present. These drugs help change the mood and make the person more ready to receive other treatment.

                  ii.            Psychological Therapy:    

It includes psychotherapy and counseling to make a person understand himself and find the skills to solve problems to overcome stress.

                iii.            Cognitive therapy

This therapy helps change the mindset and accept the events that took place around him and help achieve a better understanding of the meaning of the incident behind him and minimize the impact of the incident.

                iv.            Group therapy

It involves gathering a group of people who have the same problem as patients suffering from depression, sitting with discuss experiences, difficulties and how they solve the problem.
