Why safety as a culture to all organization

The safety aspect is a matter of great importance in the organization, especially the manufacturing sector and not to forget other sector also involved about safety. Many employees and employers in Malaysia are not concerned with the safety aspect and the future of the organization itself. This is because the employees and employers think that implements safety is wasted of time and money to the organization.

Most of the employers only consider to the profit alone. They are willing to invest up to hundreds of millions of dollars just to increase productivity and quality of their products. They will always consider and a steps necessary to improve production and quality of goods. Unfortunately, the safety aspects are not emphasized. Sometimes employers are not willing to spend to purchase Personal Protective Equipment PPE and safety equipment that is worth thousands of dollars.

What's worse, the workers themselves are not aware of their own personal safety. In some factories, the employers are concerned with the safety of workers but the workers themselves who ignore their safety. They were not wearing safety equipments such as goggle, earmuff, safety helmet and other this are the common problem. When accident occurs then they self-blame, this is to late to the workers itself.


Since, many cases involving the death occur in our country. Most likely because of these workers did not comply with the rules or they do not understand the rules. This is what happens then who should be blame on this situation. For the last few years Malaysia eventually takes safety and health to a higher level so that it can be rocognized to the international level of safety.


As it is in the system inform the occupational safety and health management, OHSAS 18001 has been introduced in the world. The system should have been used by the sector at risk. So for a new phase to implement safety at least risky sector need to practice at a minimal level. The department of occupational safety and health DOSH it self recommended that requires all sectors of the risk to practice it. The government also have to play their role. To take safety to the higher level, the government at least they should provide incentives to help these sectors to introduce safety and health system of work. The best way to describe the culture of safety is it depends to each of the individual itself to make safety as a culture to the daily life or not to.
